Location: KSTP-TV
Board members present: Scott Theisen, president; Amanda Theisen, treasurer; Andy Tellijohn, Art Hughes, Karen Lundegaard, Sarah McKenzie, Joan Gilbertson and Justin Piehowski, directors.

Absent: Sarah Bauer, president-elect; Jeff Achen, Sectretary; Nicole Garrison-Sprenger, past-president; Jane Kirtley directors.

I. Amanda gave the treasurer’s report

II. Programs

— The board approved a motion to reimburse Alyssa for $201.23 in expenses for the Freelance Love event

— Scott briefed us on plans for the Access Across America tour coming to the U’s Murphy Hall on May 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m. (FOI presentation)

— Regional conference (April 16-17): Sarah Bauer will be the board’s representative there (she will show the Good Question video)

— There was a discussion about partnering with the TC Quorum on GLBT/diversity newsroom training this summer

III. Membership

— A few new members joined at the Freelance Love event

— There’s an effort underway to get David Simon (of the Wire fame) for the Page 1 speaker

— Possible venues being investigated: McNamara, Profile, Town & Country

— Joan is heading up the Silent Auction organizing

V. Votes online since last meeting

— Amanda Theisen moved to offer two $1,000 scholarships for college students. The motion was seconded. The motion passed 11 to zero.

— Amanda Theisen moved that we spend an additional $250.85 to cover the extra expenses from the Freelance Love event. The motion was seconded. The motion passed 10 to zero.
