Minnesota Sampler

Each month, SPJ plans to highlight a work of journalism from across the state in a segment we are calling Minnesota Sampler.  Below, read about the December installment and view the story:

When Judge Joseph Chase recently sentenced John LaDue, the teen accused in a terror plot at Waseca Junior-Senior High School, to 10 years of probation, he linked the plan, in part, to LaDue’s autism.  Hoping to take a closer look at this claim, the Mankato Free Press assigned a follow-up to reporter Jessica Bies, who turned to a local radio host who suffers from autism, as well as several experts in the field, for perspective.
